China holds a grand military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan
<p> On September 3rd, China held a grand military parade to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the State, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, reviewed the armed forces of the Republic and watched the parade with guests from various countries and representatives from all walks of life. </p> <p> This parade is the first since comprehensively advancing Chinese-style modernization into a new journey, a brand-new appearance of the people's army striving towards its centenary, and a firm declaration of the Chinese nation's defense of peace and justice. </p> <p> At about 9:19, amid majestic music, Xi Jinping rode in a Hongqi inspection vehicle eastward along Chang'an Avenue, reviewing the ground infantry formations, battle flag formations, and equipment formations in sequence. </p> <p> This is the second Victory Day military parade held in Tiananmen Square since the founding of the People's Republic of China. On this day ten years ago, Xi Jinping announced a reduction of 300,000 military personnel, marking a new step on the path of building a strong military with Chinese characteristics. </p>
